KEVIN LOCKLIN: In handling nursing home or assisted living facility cases, I've seen everything from falls that have ended up in severe fractures to inadequate nutrition. Unfortunately, I had personal involvement in that my mother was in assisted living facility and unfortunately was beaten by one of the other residents into a coma and was on life support for six months before she passed. They allowed someone to be in the facility that should've never been in an assisted living facility. And when I went to look for an attorney in Pennsylvania, where it occurred, that made me realize the need for attorneys in that area. And to experience it motivated me to want to get involved in cases helping the elderly. Practicing the old fashioned way is something I learned from an old federal judge that I worked for. If my client needs to call me at 9:00 at night, they call me at 9:00 at night. If they need for me to meet with them on the weekend, I meet with them on the weekend. In order to have empathy and to project and be able to advocate their cause, you must get to know, meet, and associate with your clients. People appreciate directness and honesty. They want to know what to expect in their case and what their success is going to be. And that is what we try to do with every client.
